6A-4.004	Florida Educator's Certificates with Academic, Administrative, Degreed Career and Technical, and Specialty Class Coverages
6A-4.0181	Specialization Requirements for Certification in School Counseling (Grades PK-12) - Specialty Class

PURPOSE:

To address changes made by the 2025 Florida Legislature in House Bill 809 for the certification of school workers and House Bill 875 for school counselors. In addition, changes to the professional restricted certificate are made and fingerprint submission to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and Federal Bureau Investigation will include agency review. The effect of these changes will provide clarity and flexibility for educator certification.

SUMMARY:

Rule 6A-4.004 is amended to align to statutory changes for a certificate in school social work. It will address the restructuring of certain restricted professional certificates and provide professional certificates for personnel providing student support services. Agency review of fingerprint submission is included. Rule 6A-4.0181 is amended to align to statutory changes to include another pathway for eligible educators to become certified in school counseling.
