PURPOSE:

This rule is for a discontinued Mortgage Credit Certificates Program and is being repealed.

SUMMARY:

This rule chapter sets forth the procedures and requirements for the Mortgage Credit Certificates Program. This program assisted first time homebuyers by allowing homeowners to claim between 10% to 50% of their mortgage interest, depending on their first mortgage loan amount and not to exceed $2,000, as a federal tax credit which resulted in a dollar-for-dollar reduction of their federal income tax liability. This program was created by Florida Housing Finance Corporation (FHFC) and discontinued December 31, 2020, and therefore this rule is no longer necessary.
