6A-14.0581

Sponsorship of Athletic Activities.

PURPOSE:

The purpose of this new rule is to ensure that policies and procedures are in place that determine sponsorship of athletic activities that are similar to scholarship sports offered at state universities and Florida College System (FCS) institutions.  The effect is a rule that will require FCS institutions to communicate with school districts, provide lists of scholarship athletic activities, and determine the similarity of those activities.

SUMMARY:

Sections 1006.17 and 1006.70, Florida Statutes, requires the State Board of Education to adopt rules that administer policies and procedures that determine sponsorship of athletic activities that are similar to scholarship sports offered at state universities and Florida College System institutions.
