Meta-Major Academic Pathways

PURPOSE:

The purpose of this new rule is to establish meta-major academic pathways as required by Section 1008.30(5), Florida Statutes. A meta-major is a collection of academic programs that have common or related content. The effect is that Florida College System institutions will advise students based on the selection of a meta-major academic pathway. When students select a meta-major at the time of admission, the Florida College System institution will be able to advise the student early in their academic program about which courses are most appropriate. The goal is to provide students with clear and specific advice about a program of study that is matched with their intended degree.

SUMMARY:

This rule establishes meta-major academic pathways as required by Section 1008.30(5), Florida Statutes. A meta-major is a collection of academic programs that have common or related content used for advising students to facilitate degree completion.
