Provision of Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) and Development of Individual Educational Plans for Students with Disabilities

PURPOSE:

To reflect the updates of s. 1003.5716, F.S., during the 2023 Legislative Session. The effect will amend the notification to students with disabilities and their parents, regarding self-determination and the legal responsibilities of the educational decisions that transfer to the student upon age 18. The amendment will also update the Merit designation to the Industry Scholar designation.

SUBJECT:

Notifying students with disabilities and their parents earlier of legal responsibilities that transfer to the student upon age 18.
