Determining a Substantial Deficiency in Early Mathematics Skills and Substantial Deficiency in Mathematics

PURPOSE:

The purpose of this rule amendment is to comply with legislative changes in Senate Bill 7004 (2024), to include criteria for any student in a Voluntary Prekindergarten Education Program provided by a public school who exhibits a substantial deficiency in early mathematics skills. The definition of a student in kindergarten through grade 4 who exhibits a substantial deficiency in mathematics is also revised.

SUMMARY:

The proposed rule updates determining a substantial deficiency in mathematics and early mathematics skills.
