Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) Coordinated Screening and Progress Monitoring Program

PURPOSE:

To explain the use of child assessment data following the administration of the coordinated screening and progress monitoring program at a public or private VPK provider to identify students who have a substantial deficiency in early literacy and early mathematics skills, establishing eligibility for the New Worlds Scholarship Account.

SUMMARY:

The rule establishes the coordinated screening and progress monitoring program implemented in all public and private VPK programs, as required by section 1002.68, F.S. The rule outlines the role and responsibilities of VPK providers, Early Learning Coalitions, and school districts in administering the coordinated screening and progress monitoring program and describes the use of child assessment data following administration of the coordinated screening and progress monitoring system to identify students who exhibit a substantial deficiency in early literacy or early mathematical skills and establish eligibility for additional supports through the New Worlds Scholarship Account.
