6M-8.700

Voluntary Prekindergarten Education Program Provider with Incomplete Status, Provider on Probation and Good Cause Exemption

PURPOSE:

To implement the accountability requirements of the Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) program. The rule has been substantially rewritten to outline corrective action requirements for VPK providers on probation, establish requirements for providers that receive an incomplete designation and update procedures for granting good cause exemption to deliver the VPK program in accordance with s. 1002.68, F.S., and Rule 6M-8.622, F.A.C.

SUMMARY:

Section 1002.68(5)(b), F.S., requires each private prekindergarten provider and public school participating in the Voluntary Prekindergarten Education Program whose performance metric and designation fall below the minimum performance metric and designation to implement an improvement plan and take certain corrective actions including the use of a curriculum approved by the Department and a staff development plan. 
The rule includes consolidation of Rules 6M-8.603, 6M-8.605 and 6M-8.701, F.A.C., incorporates forms documenting corrective action requirements for VPK providers on probation, including the submission and implementation of an improvement plan, approved curriculum and, if applicable, good cause exemption.
